August 2001 After Miriah Carey was hospitalized for mental and physical exhaustion, Star Magazine ran this story claiming that the song "Without You", recorded by Carey in 1993, has a mysterious jinx that has claimed the lives of three people. The song's writers, Pete Ham and Tom Evans each committed suicide and Harry Nilsson, who had a hit with the song in 1972, succumbed to a heart attack (in 1994).
